My Favorite Korean Dishes

Apart from liking K drama and the country scenery, I also fell for Korean food, I have not tried much palate like a foodie but here are some of my favorites:

  • Korean ramyeon, a staple in my kitchen rack, just in case I have craving :D.
  • Dukbokki aka Korean spicy rice cake, this is similar to pasta bolognaise sans meat.
  • Japchae, Korean glass noodles, mix with veggies such as carrot, and meat/mushroom
  • Korean fried chicken, if you like salty fried chicken; this is not for you because this KFC has a sweet taste added.
  • Korean barbecue, meat or chicken wrapped in lettuce, I loveee it, it usually serves with kimchi (a must in Korean meal), rice, and a special Korean chili paste.
  • Seolleongtang  aka beef bone soup, yummoooo, the bone is cooked for hours to get the calcium and collagen out.
  • Bibimbap, Korean mix rice, rice with beef and egg plus assorted veggies such as zucchini, bean sprouts, spinach, carrot.
  • Korean shabu shabu, the picture speaks for itself.
  • Dak jjim, Korean braised chicken stew with glass noodles and carrot, the taste is very similar to Indonesian “semur ayam”.

Some Korean restaurants I tried in Jakarta:

  1. Yakiniku Esina Garden (Japan, Korean bbq), Plaza Senayan ****
  2. HanGang  ****
  3. Tobak, Jl. Wolter Monginsidi ****
  4. Mujigae ***
  5. Bon Chon ***
  6. Kyochon ***
